AB The Communications Specialists – People Lead

Established in 1964, AB is an ambitious London based creative agency who help organisations reach their full potential by creating informed, engaged, and connected employees.

This is an exciting opportunity to join AB in a newly created role as People Lead. The role is part-time based on a 3-day week, salary between £42-50k (pro-rata) depending on experience.

As People Lead you will be a strategic partner, an employee advocate, and a change mentor. Responsible for developing and implementing HR strategies and initiatives aligned with AB’s business strategy.

You will report to AB’s Operations director and work closely with the whole of the company’s leadership team.

Core responsibilities

  • Design and implement AB’s people strategy, aligned to our business plan. Work alongside AB’s management team and the wider agency to define our values and culture and identify our Employee Value Proposition.
  • Operationalise this strategy – embedding it in the way we do business day-to-day.
  • Design an approach for gaining insight and feedback from employees on the success of our culture and values work to ensure it stays relevant, fresh and evolves as the agency grows.
  • Identify learning and developmental needs for individuals and the agency. Make recommendations to the management team on setting and spending our training budget each year.
  • Consider how we support colleagues with their well-being and promote good mental health. Make recommendations to the management team on operationalising this throughout the year.
  • Support our DE&I (Diversity, Equity & Inclusion) initiatives. Work with the management team to design policies and practices that strengthen our approach to diversity and inclusion, helping to ensure AB is a workplace where everyone feels they belong and can give their best.
  • Design AB’s onboarding process with the management team and play a leading role in embedding and managing this process with new joiners.
  • Manage the day-to-day activities associated with each step of the employee life-cycle – talent attraction, recruitment, onboarding, development, retention and off-boarding.
  • Support the management team with employee relations, particularly by helping to be another pair of eyes and ears on the ground. Manage any specific employee demand, grievance, or other issues that might arise.
  • Manage a fair and bias-free performance evaluation process.
  • Support and advise the management team with decisions on promotions, new hires, and agency structure.
  • Keep up to date with People and HR best practice and make recommendations for the ongoing improvement of the agency’s people strategy.

Skills and experience

  • +5 years’ experience in HR, Talent or Recruitment operations
  • +2 years of people management and mentoring
  • CIPD (level 5 or above)
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Diplomatic and influencer of stakeholders
  • Up to date knowledge of the latest trends and best practise within HR
  • Proven experience implementing and improving operational HR processes
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Integrity in maintaining confidentiality internally and externally
  • Interpersonal Skills
  • Microsoft Office Skills
  • Exceptional communication skills
